WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — First responders recovered the body of an adult man at Jordanelle Reservoir following an emergency call reporting a person in distress on the water.
According to the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, the man was believed to have been on the water at the time of the 911 call. Preliminary information indicates he was wearing a life jacket and may have been paddle boarding alone.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say no foul play is suspected, and the incident appears to be accidental.
Officials have not released the man’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
The emergency response included Wasatch County Fire, sheriff’s deputies, and the Utah Division of Natural Resources.
In the wake of the incident, the sheriff’s office is urging caution for those recreating on open water.
“Individuals are encouraged to use proper safety equipment, be mindful of weather and water conditions, and avoid recreating alone,” the office said in a statement.
